Okome Paisley: A Fusion of Korean and Japanese Cuisine

I was very excited to try Okome in Paisley as I had travelled to Japan and Korea before and love their cuisine. The restaurant combines Korean and Japanese dishes, offering a unique fusion of flavours that will delight any foodie.

Atmosphere

When you walk into the restaurant, you feel as if you've stepped into a Japanese anime. The décor is sleek and modern, with Japanese paintings on the walls and an open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work. The cozy, personal ambiance is beautifully enhanced by the low lighting provided by the lantern shades.  The restaurant was a little chilly, though, so if you tend to get cold, you might want to bring a jumper.

Food and menu

Okome's menu offers a wide range of Korean and Japanese dishes: From sushi and bowls to bibimbap and ramen. Since I am on a plant-based diet, I was happy to see that there are many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. My personal favourites were the Bibimbap Tofu Veggie and the large selection of vegetarian sushi variations.

The food was excellent. I was impressed by the freshness and the variety of delicious combinations that I had never tried before. The bibimbap, a Korean classic, was also an outstanding dish with perfectly cooked rice, tasty vegetables and just the right amount of spices. Overall, the menu really has something for everyone, no matter what diet you're on.

Service and price

While the food and atmosphere at Okome were great, the service could have been a little more present. Staff were polite but a little shy. Prices were decent, but it was a pity that meatless dishes were the same price as their meat counterparts. I would have expected these to be less expensive as usual. Also, there was no plant-based lunch option, which could be a disadvantage for people on a budget.

Rating

Overall, I would give Okome a 4/5 star rating.
